Loves from Santa Barbara
Today I offer you a quick visit of the beautiful city of Santa Barbara through a Takumar SMC 50mm f/1.4 lens.
My friend Baptiste lent me his old-school lens which I tried a for a full day. I think I never really used a manual focus lens for a whole day but I challenged myself and even if pictures aren't all very sharp, it brings some charm!
The cover picture has been already published on my 500px account and has it was the first of the set to be edited, its process is different from the others.
Have you ever been to Santa Barbara? If not, you should.
I fell in love with this city, I think I never felt summertime like this since my childhood... And it was only March!
The lens brought a natural yellowish effect to the photo but the quality is pretty remarkable even many shots I've taken are under or over exposed.
This is a E Cabrillo Blvd view from the shore:
Santa Barbara reminded me a lot Cannes with its huge palmtrees (which are way taller here!).
The first squared photo was the pier, here's a wider view:
I believe this city is plenty of skaters, surfers and board sports addicts! Seriously, which city could pretend having a skate-park right by the sea aside from Venice?
I remember I very secretly took this photo of this tramp who was drifting around...
Or this couple who was staring at me wondering what could I possibly shoot at haha!
Floating in the Pacific Ocean air, the US flag has always caught my attention.
I believe it's forbidden to fish because of the birds which would become invasive.
Back on the land, I'd like to introduce you State St, the main street of Santa Barbara:
The following one is a bit blur as it's the very first photo I've taken with the lens:
I shot some other streets when my eyes caught an attracting light or composition:
On this photo, you can see it right: there are plenty big trees which I really like because it's not only a palmtree city. The greenery is very present and it's much appreciated!
The finally: I saw this unclean car window and I tried to grab the light through it but it turned to be a little bit burnt:
When I was taking these pictures, I stricly had no idea I would someday publish them on my portfolio. I was at first a bit reluctant about them because of the yellowish effect of the lens but after a while, I found a matching editing process that would enhance the picture content and here we go!
If you really liked a picture, many, or all, drop me a message if you would like to purchase a print or such.
